“I have always believed that the way to leave things better than we found them is to get involved in public policy and community groups. That is a large part of what drives me and hopefully is the example and legacy I set for my children.” Jason Cox

As a long time member of the Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce, Jason is a glowing example of what being Top 40 Under 40 exemplifies.  He has served on the Chamber board for 8 years now; as well he is a Director of the British Columbia Chamber of Commerce and served one three-year term as a Director of the Chamber Group Insurance Plan as the BC Chamber representative (the only person form Penticton ever to do so).  His passion for his community and province doesn’t end there.  He has and is currently serving as the chair of the Okanagan International Children’s’ Festival, City of Penticton Economic Development Committee, City of Penticton Tourism Advisory Committee, City of Penticton Waterfront Enhancement Advisory Committee and Penticton Athletic Commission since 2009 and more.  His volunteer spirit has led him to be a part of the South Okanagan Similkameen United Way, JCI Penticton, Central Okanagan Red Cross, and South Okanagan Brain Injury Society.

Jason considers himself a leader, a risk taker and a driven forward thinking goal setter.  He is currently the owner three businesses in Penticton; J. Cox Consulting, Fit City Supplements, and Bayleys BrewHaHa Wine and Beer Studio.  He is in the process of rebranding Bayleys to “The Peoples Wine & Beer” With a second location in Osoyoos, Jason believes the two businesses compliment what Penticton is known for, high level athletics and great wine and beer culture. He looks forward to the next stage of development for his business as we are developing a line of craft made sodas, which will be made from local farm fresh ingredients and will be available in local restaurants, wineries and farmer’s markets.

With his years of experience as a commercial banker with Valley First Credit Union and RBC, Jason is adding a new venture to his list.  He was recently appointed as a financial consultant at Investors Group, as Jason’s passions as a community minded individual he fits in perfectly to the mission of Investors Group.  He is looking forward to building strong lasting relationships with his clients while he helps them realize their own financial successes.

His achievements through out the years haven’t gone unnoticed.  In 2006 he was named “New Member of the Year, Penticton Junior Chamber International”.  In 2007 he was named “Rookie of the Year, Penticton Harlequins Rugby Football Club” and twice a nomination in 2009 and 2010 for Penticton’s Business Leader of the year.  He is humbled with his recognitions as they drive him to continue his philanthropy.

As an innovator, he collaborated with Dan Albas to create The Economic Club of Penticton.  The Economic Club is a luncheon group for the business of Penticton. The group meets to hear from highly informative guest speakers, including politicians, business leaders, educators, historians and others. The Economic Club does not lobby or take on an activist role on issues; rather it provides a forum for discussion. The Club aims to foster development of civic-mindedness in individuals who embrace their role in building a better Penticton.

He is clearly a man that uses his time wisely; he loves to create positive change especially in his daughters.  Jason is a single father of two daughters Brynn (14) and Emma (11).  He loves being a dad, considers it his greatest accomplishment and the most important thing that he does. He loves to see their development as they find their own interests in life.  Amongst his busy schedule he always manages to find time for the little things in life too, reading, cheering for the Red Sox, cooking, playing rugby and making his own beer (not just as a job but as a hobby too!)

Congratulations Jason Cox!!
